| Growth…a Wonderful Thing? How ignorant could I possibly be, for not having seen the truth before now. Tonight I will pray to be forgiven for not seeing what our illustrious elected officials have to keep pointing out to us, and the heavy burdens they have to carry for us. I am sure that somewhere in the past 63 years of my life, I must have dreamed about not having to worry about things like taking the Grand Kids to the creeks for swimming and picnics. Not having to worry about looking at the ugly old trees and wild life. Not having to worry about the Grand Kids having the wind blow through their hair while driving down the road. Not having to worry about where my money will go and how I will make it on a fixed income. Such minor problems as having enough money for food, medicine, clothing, electric, etc., and such other trivial things like this. Our elected officials are taking care of all that, with all the perks and breaks they are giving, to promote this wonderful growth that benefits at least 5% of us. They can even relieve us of the burden of home ownership by seizing our property when we no longer can afford the taxes. We don’t have to worry about taking our Kids and Grand Kids to see our woodlands because they are all being polluted and torn down, being replaced with such beautiful, concrete and asphalt that we can get a better look at while sitting in grid locked traffic. While most of us don’t have to worry about our money, the elected officials have taken that burden, more and more every day. They have to worry about what to do with the money flowing into their “Campaign Funds” from the 5% that benefit from their actions. What a heavy burden they carry, like trying to figure out which services to cut so they can afford more “growth”. They will even provide us with a police escort, should we feel the misguided need to speak out against their actions, at public meetings. What wonderful people. Our officials DO build parks for our Kids that come equipped with accessories, such as drug dealers, gangs and all those other wonderful things. Alas, what a wonderful thing growth is. Thank you very much for all your hard work, Elected Officials. I don’t know what we would do without you (although I would like to find out).
