A pilot is missing after a T-34 crash in Lake Pontchartrain, the Navy said.

The T-34C Turbomentor training aircraft went down during a routine mission at approximately 7:00 p.m. yesterday evening.  There were two pilots aboard the aircraft.

The pilots were assigned to Training Air Wing Five, based out of Naval Air Station Whiting Field.

Officials say the Coast Guard has recovered one of the pilots, who suffered minor injuries, and is currently conducting a search for the second pilot.

The aircraft was conducting a routine cross-country training mission.  An investigation has convened to investigate the cause of the mishap, according to Navy sources.
